Free plant swap at Rejuvenate expo

Eurobodalla Council will provide environmental and bushfire recovery outreach services in Batemans Bay next month as part of the Rejuvenate initiative at Village Centre and Bridge Plaza.

Rejuvenate is a month-long expo-style event focussed on the environment and bushfire recovery to coincide with World Environment Day on Sunday 5 June.

Eurobodalla Council’s environment team will have its environmental education trailer at Village Centre near Coles over four days.

On Sunday 5 June, from 10am to 2pm, residents can bring a bag of weeds from their garden to the Council stall and swap them for native plants. Council staff can also give advice on how to make your garden bush-friendly and provide information on Council’s free composting and worm farming workshops. You can also have input into Council’s new biodiversity strategy.

On Tuesday 7 June, from 9.30am to 3.30pm, find out how the community is tackling single-use plastics and learn more about grey-headed flying foxes in Eurobodalla.

For World Ocean Day on Wednesday 8 June, from 9.30am-3.30 pm, learn what Council is doing to protect local waterways and how you can help, as well as the little penguin colony on your doorstep.

Later in the month the focus of the Rejuvenate expo will shift to bushfire recovery. From 15-17 June, staff from Council’s bushfire recovery support service will be stationed at the centre from 9am-1pm. Planning and development staff will also be there to provide advice on the recovery and rebuilding process on Thursday 16 June and Friday 17 June from 10am to 2pm, and you can find out more about Council’s Volunteers for Bushfire Recovery program from 20-22 June.
