Free public transport your ticket to great night out this festival season

Get out and enjoy a bumper festival season with free public transport to and from the city each weekend from midday Friday 18 February to 20 March 2022.

Free travel applies to all bus, tram and train services to and from the city, from midday Friday to midnight Sunday each weekend throughout the festival season.

Additional O-Bahn services and a special ADLOOP tram will also be running every Friday and Saturday night, as well as on Sunday night 13 March.

“We’re making it easy to leave the car at home this festival season with free travel on public transport to and from the city every Friday, Saturday and Sunday,” Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Corey Wingard said.

“Adelaide’s CBD is the place to be this time of year, as thousands of locals and tourists flock to enjoy the Adelaide Fringe, WOMAD and Adelaide Festival.

“As a government we’ve stood shoulder-to-shoulder with businesses in the CBD with various support packages and this is just another way in which we can help get more people back into our city bars, restaurants and cafes.

“Additional O-Bahn bus services will be running on the busiest nights to cater for increased crowds and get people home safely.

“The popular free ADLOOP tram is also back again, providing easy access to the vibrant East End, Festival Plaza and hundreds of venues around the CBD.

“With your free, safe and convenient ride sorted, there’s no better way to get out andexperience the best of Adelaide’s world-class festival season.”

The ADLOOP will see trams operate every 20 minutes from South Terrace to Festival Plaza, Festival Plaza to Botanic Gardens and Botanic Gardens to South Terrace, complementing the normal tram timetable and creating a 10-minute frequency within the eastern CBD.

Due to road closures in the East End because of festival events, some detours and stop closures will be in place for a small number of bus services.

Passengers are encouraged to visit www.adelaidemetro.com.au to check their timetable in real time and plan their trip ahead with Adelaide Metro’s journey planner noting this weekend there are train line closures to allow for critical works on the Gawler Electrification Project.

Public transport passengers are also reminded to continue to check in using QR codes and wear a face mask while on-board or at (or moving through) stations. Please social distance wherever possible and do not travel if you are unwell.
