Free Summer Sundays events return from this weekend

Attention all live music lovers! Get ready to groove the month away as the Summer Sundays free concert series makes its triumphant return to the beautiful Ballarat Botanical Gardens.

The first of four events across January kicks off this Sunday, 7 January with a fantastic line-up featuring Yacht Rock Revival, Chitra, The Pearlies, and Roy Darby.

These talented artists will be taking to the stage from 4pm to 8pm, serving up some seriously good vibes.

But wait, there’s more! Indulge in a delightful selection of the finest food and beverage vendors from across Ballarat and beyond.

And for those 18 years and older looking to quench that summer thirst, the pop-up Garden Bar will be the place to be, serving up refreshing local wine, craft beer and cider.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Des Hudson said Summer Sundays was always a highlight to kick start a big year of events in Ballarat.

“I encourage our residents to bring their favourite rug and a picnic basket, because this is all about creating a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon of entertainment,” he said.

“Each week the line-up features a great mix of local and emerging artists and the best part is it is absolutely free. All brought to you by the City of Ballarat, because we believe in bringing joy to our residents and visitors alike.”

Headlining week one is the Yacht Rock Revival, a band that captures the essence of iconic 70s and 80s sounds, with vibes along the lines of Hall & Oates, Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers, and Toto.

Week two (14 January) in the gardens will see The Pigs, Chikchika, Confetti Western and Rhiannon Simpson live on-stage from 4pm to 8pm and the Fireworks Spectacular from 9.30pm on the shores of Lake Wendouree (weather permitting).

Amaru Tribe, Squid Nebula, Crank Williams and Patsy Decline, and Jeremy Beggs will feature across week three’s line-up (21 January) followed by the final event on 28 January with One Spirit Africa, Ezra Lee.
