Full Interview: Graham Manou on his appointment at Cricket Victoria

After being appointed Cricket Victoria’s General Manager – Cricket Performance, Graham Maou spoke about the Victorian squads and his experience.

Manou has spent the last five years working in several roles leading the national talent pathway at Cricket Australia and is currently the Head of National Development.

Speaking to Cricket Victoria Media, Manou said he was excited about the future of Victorian cricket.

“The things that attracted me to the role were pretty simple, Victoria has a rich history in Australian Cricket and talent,” Manou said.

“On both the male and female side of things the lists are strong and I can see over the next four to five years having some real impact on not only the domestic competitions but hopefully some Australian representation as well.

“Since my playing time I’ve had an opportunity to work in a couple of different industries, I spent a little bit of time in the building industry following my exit from the game and then an opportunity came up at the Australian Cricketers Association. I led the Cricket Operations there and learnt a lot of lessons about the administration side of the game.

“The last six years I’ve spent overseeing the national development programs [at Cricket Australia], having the opportunity to work with the best 17 to 19-year-olds has been a lot of fun. That role also extended across Australia A programs as well.

“Having a solid pathway system is is vitally important, first and foremost having something that both young boys and girls can see, it gives them a sense of where they’d like to be and provides some clarity as to how to get there.

“The strength of our pathway system and Victorian Premier Cricket is going to continue to hold Victorian cricket in very good stead.”

Manou will begin at Cricket Victoria in the coming weeks.
