The Cook Labor Government is investing $25 million through the Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund’s Research Infrastructure Support (RIS) program to strengthen Western Australia’s health and medical research capability.
Twenty Western Australian organisations will share the funding, which supports critical infrastructure, facilities, equipment, and specialist workforce.
This will enable researchers to deliver life-changing discoveries that shape the future and improve health outcomes for Western Australians.
The RIS program is the largest annual grants program delivered through the FHRI Fund and forms part of the Cook Labor Government’s $349 million commitment to the program to 2028-29.
As stated by Medical Research Minister Stephen Dawson:
“Western Australia’s researchers are tackling some of the biggest health challenges facing our communities, and this investment gives them the tools and support they need to keep making a difference.
“Whether it’s state-of-the-art labs, specialised equipment, or expert research staff, this funding ensures our researchers have the infrastructure they need to turn great ideas into better health outcomes.
“The Cook Labor Government will always put WA first and this investment reinforces our commitment to ensuring we remain a leading destination for health and medical research.”
