Investment in cancer research will help deliver more support, therapies and outcomes for children suffering from inoperable brain tumours.
The Sydney Children’s Hospital received a grant of $3.75 million and Cancer Institute NSW $3.3 million. The grants will focus on new treatments for young children and help NSW remain at the forefront of cancer research.
Brain tumours are the most common form of solid tumours among children. Malignant brain tumours kill more children in Australia than any other disease.
Over the last five years more than $16 million has been invested into cancer research. The NSW Government’s Comprehensive Children’s Cancer Centre will be built at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, with an investment of $608 million.
