Further two charged over fatal assault at Doonside, NSW

Strike Force Brens detectives have charged a further two people as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged murder of a teenage boy in Sydney’s west earlier this year.

About 5.40pm on Wednesday 4 August 2021, a 16-year-old boy was found unresponsive with injuries to his head and chest at a home on Perigee Close, Doonside. He was taken to Westmead Hospital, where he later died.

Detectives attached to Blacktown Police Area Command established Strike Force Brens to investigate the boy’s death.

He has been identified as 16-year-old, Jason Galleghan

Eight people – aged between 13 and 32 – have since been charged over their alleged roles in the incident. They remain before the courts.

Following further inquiries, investigators executed a search warrant at a unit on Richmond Road, Kingswood, about 6am yesterday (Tuesday 26 October 2021).

During the search, police seized a mobile phone and clothing relevant to the investigation.

An 18-year-old man was arrested and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with conceal serious indictable offence – murder.

The teen was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Blacktown Local Court on Thursday 25 November 2021.

A second search warrant was executed on Myrtus Crescent, Bidwill, about 7.30am. where a 36-year-old woman was arrested and taken to Mt Druitt Police Station.

She was charged with murder, take/detain in company with intent to get advantage occasion actual bodily harm and cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent.

The woman was refused bail to appear in Mt Druitt Local Court today (Wednesday 27 October 2021).

Investigations under Strike Force Brens are continuing.
