The nation-leading new Institute of Applied Technology (IAT) – Digital at TAFE NSW Meadowbank has officially opened, delivering cutting-edge skills in high demand areas including cybercrime and artificial intelligence.

Minister for Skills and Training Alister Henskens said the NSW Liberal and Nationals Government’s game-changing investment in the new IAT positions the State as the nation-leading provider of digital skills, combining world-class facilities with a ground-breaking industry-driven education model.

“The Institute is home to the first Cyber Range Training Centre in NSW, placing world-class training facilities right at our doorstep, fitted with the latest simulation and digital technology to fight cybercrime,” Mr Henskens said.

“Alongside Microsoft, industry giants like Salesforce, SAP and SAS are contributing to the co-design of training in key disciplines such as data management, digital forensics, software development and cloud computing.

“Our partners bring critical industry intelligence and expertise which will help to identify emerging needs, develop curriculum and create new courses and certifications in high-demand areas.”

Member for Ryde and Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Victor Dominello said the IAT would support local homegrown talent to take advantage of the jobs boom in one of the fastest-growing industries.

“Students now have access to Australia’s best digital training, co-designed by industry leaders and world-leading universities, which will future-proof NSW’s workforce with the skills to embrace the digital age,” Mr Dominello said.

“Every business is now a digital business, and digital trends are driving innovation across all sectors, reshaping the nature of work in every industry from online transactions, increased data collection and a greater demand for cyber security.”

The Institute is a partnership between TAFE NSW, Microsoft, the University of Technology Sydney and Macquarie University. More information is available at the Institute of Applied Technology website.
