Tennis enthusiasts can now book in a match at the newly upgraded courts at Les Shore Reserve, Glenorie.
The recently completed works included refurbishing two existing tennis courts and repurposing an additional two courts into multipurpose areas for basketball and netball.
Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Peter Gangemi and the Federal Member for Berowra, Julian Leeser MP recently inspected the courts.
“The completion of this project has come at the perfect time. With the Australian Open recently wrapping up, I’m sure tennis fans in The Hills will be eager to grab their rackets and try out the improved courts at Les Shore Reserve,” Mayor Gangemi said.
“Additionally, basketball and netball are two of our fastest growing sports in The Hills so these new courts will be keenly sought after by our residents.
“Thank you to the Australian Government for their investment into local infrastructure and grassroots sport in our rural areas,” Mayor Gangemi added.
“It’s wonderful to see the additions to this fantastic sports facility open and available to be used the community, Mr Leeser said.
“The Federal Government will continue to provide grants that will ensure more facilities like this will be built and enjoyed by all into the future.”
This project was made possible through $215,000 funding from the Australian Government through the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program. This program supports local councils to deliver priority local road and community infrastructure projects across Australia, supporting jobs and the resilience of local economies to help communities bounce back from the COVID-19 pandemic.
