Garvoc Community Wins Big With Backing For New Hub

  • Minister for Regional Development

The Garvoc community is celebrating today, with funding flowing from the Andrews Labor Government towards a new hub that will be a vital local meeting place and focal point of the town.

Minister for Regional Development Jaclyn Symes announced that Garvoc Hall would receive $400,000 from the Government’s Regional Infrastructure Fund.

The Hub will provide facilities including a meeting space for community events, the Garvoc CFA and the Garvoc Residents Group, as we as providing appropriate amenities for in-venue Family Day Care services to be managed by Moyne Shire Council.

This year’s Regional Infrastructure Fund was advertised through a competitive round-based process, to ensure that projects received the support they need to deliver key infrastructure to regional towns. Grants of up to $500,000 were available to councils and council-sponsored projects.

The Regional Infrastructure Fund is part of the Labor Government’s flagship Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund which helps businesses create more jobs in regional Victoria, supports community projects and assists councils to build the infrastructure that locals need.

The Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund is a cornerstone of the Government’s record $2.6 billion ‘Delivering for Regional and Rural Victoria Program’ unveiled in last year’s Victorian Budget.

The investment is delivering quality education, health, transport and record jobs and keeping the unemployment rate for regional Victoria the lowest regional rate in the country.
