GBH charge in Surfers Paradise, QLD

Gold Coast detectives have charged a man with grievous bodily harm following a disturbance in Surfers Paradise this morning (February 22).

It will be alleged at around 10.30am a man attended a Surfers Paradise home of a woman known to him. He was denied entry and left.

A 49-year-old Southport man, who was at the address, followed the man.

A short time later, at the intersection of Remembrance Drive and Peninsular Drive, it will be alleged the two men were involved in a physical altercation during which time the 49-year-old Southport man sustained a number of stab wounds.

Police attended the location and arrested a 49-year-old Surfers Paradise man charging him with grievous bodily harm and breaching a domestic violence order.

He has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on Monday, February 24.

The 49-year-old Southport man was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
