Georges River Council has re-elected Councillor Elise Borg as Mayor and elected Councillor Oliver Dimoski as Deputy Mayor at the Extraordinary Meeting of Council held on Wednesday 2 September 2026.
Mayor Borg was re-elected by her fellow councillors to continue leading Council and representing the Georges River community for a further two years until September 2028.
Deputy Mayor Dimoski will serve a term of 12 months until September 2027.
In accepting her re-election, Mayor Borg addressed the Council and community in the public gallery.
“I am genuinely humbled and honoured to receive the support of my colleagues and the privilege of continuing to lead this organisation as Mayor for a further two years.
I’m incredibly proud of what we have achieved together as a Council over the first two years of this term.” Mayor Borg said.
Speaking of the pride, but also a deep sense of responsibility, the Mayor shared her responsibility to the people of Georges River to represent their interests.
“That responsibility is to be a strong and independent voice for our community. To ensure our decisions are guided by fairness and equity, and that the interests of everyone across Georges River are considered. To promote open and transparent governance, so our community feels informed, respected and genuinely part of the decisions that shape their future.
“Over the next two years, I look forward to continuing that work with my fellow Councillors and with our staff. There is still much to do. There are challenges ahead, but there are also enormous opportunities for Georges River.”
Mayor Borg also congratulated Councillor Dimoski on becoming Deputy Mayor.
“Councillor Dimoski has been a great servant to the residents of Georges River, and I have no doubt that his contribution will continue, and grow, in this important leadership role. I congratulate you, Deputy Mayor Dimoski, on your appointment. I look forward to working closely with you and serving alongside you as we lead Georges River Council.”
On accepting his election to the Deputy Mayor role, Councillor Dimoski stated, “I recognise that this position is not simply an honour, it is a responsibility. I will approach it with dedication, respect, integrity and a genuine commitment to serving our community”
Council also confirmed committee chair appointments, and Council’s elected representatives on community panels.
