Locals will have the chance to celebrate Victorian Seniors Festival in Maryborough next month when two-time TV Week Gold Logie winner and entertainment icon Denise Drysdale takes to the Maryborough Highland Society stage.

Central Goldfields Shire Maryborough Ward Councillor Geoff Lovett said the FREE event, planned for Monday, 10 October, is a chance for the community to mark the 40th Victorian Seniors Festival.

“After not being able to host events due to the pandemic, it’s exciting to have in-person activities happening again and it’s wonderful we are able to celebrate Victorian Seniors Festival right here in Maryborough.”

Held annually in October at various locations across the state, the Festival sees a variety of events, activities and entertainment take place.

The Victorian Seniors Festival theme for 2022 is Takin’ It Easy, which focuses on presenting accessible and comfortable spaces, both live and online, to ensure seniors feel relaxed to participate and ease back into events.

To ensure older Victorians can make the most of the Festival, Victorian Seniors Card holders can access free travel on public transport services from 2 to 9 October – including on V/Line.

Council receives funding from the Victorian Government to host Victorian Seniors Festival activities and has partnered with the Maryborough Highland Society to host next month’s event.
