Girls arrested over city assault, South Australia

Two girls were arrested after an assault in the city last night.

The victim, a 24-year-old woman, was allegedly attacked from behind as she walked along North Terrace, in front of the Adelaide Railway Station about 8.30pm last night, Thursday 7 July.

She was punched and kicked and pulled to the ground.

Licensing Enforcement Branch officers were driving along North Terrace at the time and witnessed the assault.

The suspects ran off and police searched the area. After a brief foot pursuit, two girls, aged 10 and 11, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault and aggravated affray.

The 10-year-old was bailed to appear in the Adelaide Youth Court on 10 August.

The 11-year-old will face the Youth Court today.

The victim did not require medical treatment following this incident.
