Global grooves: Bohemian Nights back by popular demand at Wyreena’s Music Cafe

Bohemian Nights

duo Ernie Gruner and Phil Carroll return to Wyreena’s Music Café by popular demand in a special one-night only performance on Friday 30 August.

The duo last performed at Wyreena in September 2018 to a sold-out audience.

The masters of fiddle, mandolin, accordian and vocals will return to the stage with their lively repertoire of world music, covering the gamut of gypsy, klezmer, European, Turkish and Russian, with a generous sprinkle of jazz thrown in.

Based in Melbourne, Bohemian Nights have toured extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand, and have studied and played in Montreal, Istanbul, New York, Kracow and Budapest.

The pair, who were originally named Gypsy Nights in honour of the famous act that entertained restaurants and cafes in 1930s Budapest, have performed together for more than 20 years, playing in many high-profile Australian bands such as Yalla!, Jugularity, and Klezmeritis.

They are as experienced at presenting formal concerts as they are at serenading tables and playing songs on request, or simply creating atmosphere at street festivals.

Each month on a Friday in the Conservatory Café, Wyreena hosts a musical event featuring some of Victoria’s most talented artists.

Don’t miss your chance to catch Bohemian Nights live at Wyreena, and prepare to be transported to another place and time with their incredible music.

Wyreena’s Music Café is a fully licensed venue with allocated seating, so bookings are essential.
