The Crisafulli Government is taking Community Cabinet to Goondiwindi, as it continues to deliver a fresh start for regional Queensland.
Premier David Crisafulli and Ministers will meet with Southern Downs residents, businesses and organisations to listen and focus on the priorities that matter most to the community, following strong advocacy from Member for Southern Downs James Lister, and Mayor of the Goondiwindi Regional Council, the Honourable Lawrence Springborg, AM.
Premier David Crisafulli said bringing Community Cabinet to the Southern Downs region was about listening to all of Queensland.
“We made it a key priority to visit regional towns like Goondiwindi to listen, learn and address the issues facing communities with those who are impacted by them,” Premier Crisafulli said.
“By working together, we can deliver meaningful outcomes that improve education, health and community safety, ensuring the Southern Downs region has the strong voice it deserves.”
Member for Southern Downs James Lister thanked the Premier for bringing Community Cabinet to Goondiwindi.
“Mayor Lawrence Springborg and I wanted Premier David Crisafulli to bring cabinet to Goondiwindi, and I’m delighted that the Premier has agreed to do so,” Mr Lister said.
“When the Premier and all Ministers come to hold a community cabinet out here, it shows that we’re taken seriously as a vital contributor to the economic and social fabric of Queensland.
“Having Premier Crisafulli and all of Cabinet here, means that locals can speak directly with Ministers about what’s important to them, and to their local community.”
Mayor of Goondiwindi Regional Council the Honourable Lawrence Springborg AM said he was grateful that the Premier has responded so quickly to the invitation to host a Community Cabinet in Goondiwindi.
“We thank the Premier for accepting the invitation to bring Community Cabinet to Goondiwindi,” Mayor Springborg said.
“This visit provides an excellent opportunity to showcase everything our region has to offer while ensuring our community’s challenges, priorities and future opportunities are heard at the highest levels of government.
“We look forward to welcoming the Premier, Ministers and officials to Goondiwindi and encourage strong community participation.”
Registrations will open in the coming weeks for community members wishing to raise local issues or discuss specific priorities with the Queensland Government.
