Government Should Drop Flawed & Friendless Nature Market Scheme: Greens

Australian Greens

Senator Sarah Hanson-Young is Greens Environment Spokesperson & Manager of Business in the Senate:

“The Government’s ‘Green Wall Street’ scheme is flawed, friendless and it should be withdrawn to make way for credible environment policy, including a ban to native forest logging and a Climate Trigger that will stop new coal and gas projects.

“This scheme won’t save koalas or wildlife but will greenwash the expansion of the logging & pollution which harms our environment. The economic and scientific case for this scheme has not withstood basic scrutiny.

“Allowing corporations to pay to destroy nature is not nature positive.

“The Greens are willing to work with the government to put in place laws that protect the environment, but we won’t support bogus laws that do nothing but allow polluters to greenwash.”
