Grainger danger in Werribee

In his first day filling in as Assistant Commissioner for road policing, Mick Grainger was left shaking his head as the vehicle he was in was overtaken at speed in Little River yesterday.

Assistant Commissioner Grainger was travelling from a meeting in Geelong with Acting Assistant Commissioner Nigel Howard when the black Subaru Forester flew by about 12.45pm.

They followed the vehicle, tracking its speed at an alleged 155km/h whilst merging in and out of traffic, before intercepting it on Princes Freeway near Duncans Road in Werribee.

The 41-year-old Point Cook man had his car impounded by Westgate Highway Patrol officers.

He will be charged on summons with traffic related charges and will appear in court at a later date.

Regardless of rank, police are always on the road and will take action when there is potential danger to the community.
