Grant opens doors for transport innovation in Casey

To help shape tomorrow’s transportation landscape, the City of Casey is launching the Future Mobility Living Lab. This initiative aims to foster innovation, research, and engagement into ‘future mobility,’ which looks at improving how people will get around in the future. Organisations operating in this space are invited to apply to collaborate with the City of Casey and to receive funding via the Future Mobility Living Lab grant.

Aligned with community priorities, the Future Mobility Living Lab focuses on three key areas: safety and inclusion, sustainability, and emerging technology. It is designed to harness the collective expertise of diverse stakeholders to address critical transportation challenges for a safer, more sustainable and inclusive future in Casey.

The Living Lab concept is about engaging the community, conducting research, co-designing solutions, and testing innovative ideas. By participating, organisations have an opportunity to collaborate in a private-public partnership model, fostering dialogue with residents and community groups to find effective solutions.

An online information session is scheduled for 23 August 2023 to introduce interested parties to the Future Mobility Living Lab. This session will provide insights into the initiative’s goals, opportunities for funding and support, and the approach that will be adopted to create a comprehensive roadmap for future mobility in Casey.

City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM said that the power of collaboration and innovation can revolutionise how people move within the municipality.

“With a commitment to reducing congestion, promoting inclusivity, and enhancing environmental well-being, the Future Mobility Living Lab holds the potential to shape a transportation future that benefits all residents.

“We encourage businesses, start-ups, non-profits, universities, and research institutions to participate, either by applying for the rant or expressing interest in the upcoming pop-up showcase events planned for 2024,” Ms Duff said.
