As noted by Sport and Recreation Minister Mick Murray:

“Grants like these help bring world-class sport to regional areas, and for regional kids this might be their first chance to see and be inspired by their sporting heroes.

“If just one person is inspired by these visits to pick up a hockey stick, get on a bike or decide they want to shoot for the stars, then we’ve done our job.

“I am proud that the McGowan Government is providing the means for sport and recreation in country areas to grow.

“These events not only support sport development in regional areas but are big drawcards for economic development and sports tourism in the host region.”
