Grants of up to $15,000 are on offer for community organisations who focus on
initiatives that address the unique issues faced by Queensland’s women and girls.
Minister for Women and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic and Family Violence Shannon Fentiman said organisations are encouraged to apply for funding in the latest round of the Investing in Queensland Women grant program.
“Across the State women and girls have raised their voices time and time again to demand equality, respect and the right to live in safety – and the Palaszczuk Government has listened,” Minister Fentiman said.
“We are funding frontline and community organisations and partners with innovative ideas to help women achieve, succeed and be safe and secure.
“We’ve committed to investing $540,000 every year for the Investing in Queensland Women grant program to support events and projects that inspire the community to respect women, embrace gender equality and promote and protect the rights, interests and wellbeing of women and girls.
“It was fantastic to see the 34 organisations were successful in sharing in $270,000 in round one earlier this year.
“I look forward to seeing proposals for some wonderful new programs and initiatives in this second round.”
Three categories of funding are available for applicants:
- Category 1: up to $5,000 for small initiatives such as targeted campaigns or events (e.g. awareness raising event, workshop or training for small groups, or development of resources such as posters)
- Category 2: up to $10,000 for larger initiatives which will operate on a broader scale or are more sustainable in nature (e.g. medium to large scale campaign, development of resources such as videos, or a series of workshops or events)
- Category 3: up to $15,000 for substantial initiatives which are undertaken jointly between two or more organisations or community groups, with favourable consideration given to applications where there is a matched contribution to the initiative from the initiative partners.
Minister Fentiman said funding allocated in the current round of grants would support the delivery of projects and events in the first half of the 2023 calendar year.
“This period covers both Queensland Women’s Week in March and Domestic and Family Violence Prevention month in May, so organisations planning an event to coincide with either of these initiatives should apply in this round,” she said.
“We’re also keen to see proposals that will help achieve the objectives of the Queensland Women’s Strategy, the Queensland Domestic and Family Violence Strategy or the Prevent. Support. Believe Framework to address sexual violence.
“Projects or events that target people who identify as women, and who may be more vulnerable or experience multiple levels of disadvantage, are also encouraged.”
