Hundreds of West Aussies shared a cuppa at Central Park today for Cancer Council WA’s 2026 Biggest Morning Tea.
Cancer Council WA CEO, Ashley Reid, said this year Cancer Council WA was hoping to raise $2 million to continue supporting those impacted by cancer.
“Every year more than 14,000 West Aussies hear the words ‘you have cancer’,” Mr Reid said.
“That’s about 38 people every day in WA who receive a cancer diagnosis, and every four minutes an Australian is diagnosed with cancer – the average time for a tea break.
“We urge people to make that tea break count with Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, today or any time in May or June in support of those living with cancer.”
Mr Reid said since it began in 1993, Cancer Council’s generous community of supporters across Australia have raised almost $240 million by hosting a morning tea.
“For 33 years, Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea has brought together millions of Australians over a cup of tea in support of those affected by cancer,” he said.
“All funds raised from Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea go towards funding life-saving cancer research, prevention, advocacy, and support programs for Australians living with cancer.”
Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is the largest and most successful event of its kind in the country, with more than 2000 hosts taking part each year in WA alone.
The official date is Thursday 21 May 2026, but people can register to host an event at any time from now until the end of June.
