Green light for Wendouree dog park upgrades

The City of Ballarat’s Engaging Communities Program will provide $20,000 in funds to transform the Wendouree dog park.

Residents and community stakeholders last night agreed that the funds will deliver a shelter, a concrete slab and additional seating at the dog park in Dowling Street.

The funding commitment responds to a request from a group of Wendouree residents calling for improvements to the popular space.

The latest allocation completes the full $200,000 budget for the Engaging Communities Program in Wendouree. This program has supported a wide range of community initiatives in the past two years, including upgrades to Montgomery Street Reserve and Pioneer Park.

City of Ballarat Mayor Cr Samantha McIntosh says the Engaging Communities Program implements the local neighbourhood projects that matter most to residents.

“It’s fantastic to see another local community initiative get implemented through this program,” she says.

“We were aware that this was a local priority for action and so it is great to see that the program’s funds have been allocated to improve facilities at the space.

“We look forward to seeing these improvements take shape over the next few months.”
