Greenwood Assault Charge

Warwick Police have charged a man in relation to an incident at a bottle shop in Greenwood last night, Saturday 12 February 2022, during which a staff member was assaulted.
About 7:15pm a man drove his vehicle into the drive-through section of the bottle shop, located on Warwick Road. A staff member approached the man to take his order and as required asked for his proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
The customer produced a digital certificate and was subsequently asked for photo ID to confirm the certificate was his. It will be alleged at this point in time the customer became aggressive towards the staff member.
Despite attempts to explain the situation to the customer, the customer continued to be aggressive and was advised that due to his behaviour he was being refused service. It will be alleged the customer punched the staff member to the face.
The customer attempted to exit his vehicle, however other staff members intervened and prevented him from getting out. The customer then drove off.
Police were called and attended a residence in Greenwood, where a 63-year-old man was arrested. He has since been charged with Common Assault and is due to appear in the Joondalup Magistrates Court on Monday 14 March 2022.
