Griffith animation degree ranked number one in Australia

Griffith Film School’s animation program has been ranked number one in Australia and within the top ten globally, according to the latest International Animation School Rankings.

The International Animation School Rankings measure animation programs at universities globally by academic reputation, admission selectivity, depth and breadth of the program and employability data.

Griffith Film School Animation Program Director Dr Peter Moyes said it was a remarkable achievement, with the Bachelor of Animation ranked number one in Australia and number eight internationally.

“We were the first university in Australia to launch a Bachelor of Animation, and we remain the dream destination for animation students from around the world,” he said.

“It’s fantastic to receive recognition on the national and international stage, and I think these results reflect the fact that the program is really coming of age.”

Dr Moyes said that the strength of the animation program program was reflected in the success of its graduates, who have gone on to work on high-profile Hollywood blockbusters like Sony’s Oscar-winning Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse and TV juggernauts like The Simpsons.

“Our graduates are working on some of the world’s most exciting projects, from hits like Spiderman to Bluey, which has been a runaway local success story and is powered by Griffith graduates,” he said.

“We’re also nurturing the next generation of animation artists, who benefit from our strong industry connections and internationally renowned faculty.”

The International Animation School Ranking results continue strong outcomes for Griffith University across a range of ranking schemes this year.
