Emergency services in Perth’s north-east have received a boost, with ground broken at the site of a new $8 million volunteer fire station in Bullsbrook.
It fulfils a Cook Labor Government election commitment to bolster emergency services capabilities in one of Perth’s fastest-growing areas with construction on the state-of-the-art facility to start towards the middle of next year.
The fire station – designed by Western Australian company Hart Architects – will be home to Bullsbrook Volunteer Fire and Emergency Services personnel who work tirelessly to protect community members during bush and structure fires, HAZMAT incidents and road crash rescues. It will replace their current building which is more than 30 years old.
To be built on 5,200 square metres on Yarrimbah Drive, the new fire station has been designed following extensive research and input from volunteers, with a strong focus on operational efficiency, workplace safety and firefighter wellbeing.
It will boast five appliance bays, spacious administrative areas with a training room and offices, as well as a dedicated storage area for firefighters’ personal protective clothing.
The facility will also have the capacity to become an incident control centre during large-scale emergencies. It is expected to be operational from January 2029.
