Diversifying the Northern Territory economy is one way the Territory Labor Government is creating long term local jobs.

Agricultural development will bring significant ongoing development opportunities and sustainable economic benefits to the Northern Territory.

The Territory Labor Government is undertaking an EOI process for a 4.8 hectare lot in the Douglas Daly region.

A request for EOI process for the redevelopment of part Lot 17 Town of Fleming will support the agricultural and cattle industry in the Douglas Daly region.

The Site is a former grain receival facility with four grain silos, a weighbridge, water tank, generator and sheds that have not been operational since 1994 and are beyond their useful life. It is located on Crown land.

The request for EOI is an exciting opportunity to deliver an overall redevelopment that:

supports the agricultural and cattle industries in the region;preferably includes an operational public weighbridge that meets the requirements of the National Measurement Act 1960 (Cth) to be owned and managed by the successful Proponent;takes into consideration and responds adequately to the opportunities and constraints of the Site;provides short and/or long term strategic economic benefits to the Territory; andmaximise local benefits throughout the life of the project including workforce development, local jobs, Aboriginal employment and workforce development, local industry participation and investment in and contribution to the Territory community

The release of this EOI comes after the successful proponent for the Northern Territory’s single largest land release for agricultural development was announced.

AAM Investment Group Pty Ltd has been selected to undertake the Keep Plains Agricultural Development is a 67,500ha area of fertile land located in the Northern Territory close to the West Australian border, adjacent to the iconic Ord River agricultural development and its existing infrastructure and irrigation channels.
