The Territory Government is working with the community housing sector to create more secure and affordable housing.
A new Community Housing Industry Development Plan for the Northern Territory has recently been launched to guide the urban community housing industry’s growth and to better equip providers to deliver social and affordable housing that meets Territorians’ needs.
In order to do this, the Northern Territory Government provided NT Shelter with $150,000 to develop the plan with the Community Housing Industry Association NT, Aboriginal Housing NT, the Community Housing Registrar and community housing providers.
The plan supports commitments under the Northern Territory Government’s Community Housing Growth Strategy 2022-32 here to invest in building the capacity of the sector.
Community housing providers can deliver place-based services that make a difference to those living in social and affordable housing, as well as having positive impacts on communities by bringing people together and creating welcoming and inclusive spaces.
The industry development plan will support the community housing sector to be a pivotal partner in the transformation of social and affordable housing across urban and regional areas of the NT.
