Get your kids out of the house and into a fun activity with the help of the newest digital School Holiday Guide.
The free guide is jam-packed with no-cost and low-cost activities for children and teenagers to enjoy these school holidays. Parents and caregivers can access the full guide on Council’s website.
Deputy Mayor Suzy Batkovic said the guide included events and workshops hosted by Council at its libraries and galleries.
“Townsville is a city for everyone, including our youngest residents. Our libraries and galleries have some fantastic activities these school holidays, from Citylibraries’ Geigi the Stubborn Boy book launch and Video Game Writing Workshop with R.J. Timmis to Pinnacles Gallery’s Surreal Soft Sculptures activity,” Cr Batkovic said.
“These activities are a great way for kids to get out and try something new, get creative, make new friends and have fun during the school holidays without breaking the bank.”
Queensland Museum CEO Renai Grace said families could enjoy two free programs at the museum these winter school holidays, coinciding with NAIDOC Week. The programs, Dilly Bag Designers and Deadly Day Out, celebrate this year’s theme, 50 Years of Deadly.
“Our NAIDOC Week School Holiday Program invites children to connect with First Nations art and culture through hands-on activities, storytelling, and creative workshops,” Ms Grace said.
“Led by local cultural practitioners, these programs offer a fun and engaging way for children to learn about the rich traditions and heritage of Australia’s First Nations peoples.
“Families can also discover our new exhibitions, Questacon Presents: ZAP! CLANK! Pow! and Ghost Nets of Pormpuraaw, showcasing science and stunning sculptures by First Nations artists. It’s a perfect opportunity to connect, learn, and be inspired together.”
