A gun has been seized and two people are in custody following a pursuit from Kotara to Lambton this morning.
Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District were responding to a report of a break and enter occurring when they attempted to stop a vehicle on Park Avenue, Kotara, about 6.35am (Thursday 2 July 2026).
When the driver allegedly failed to stop when directed a pursuit was initiated.
It was followed along Charlestown Road to Hillsborough Road, Brunker Road to Russell Street at Lambton.
The vehicle stopped at the intersection of Northcott and Wade streets at Kotara about 6.50am where and man and woman were arrested. They have been taken to Newcastle Police Station.
A handgun was allegedly found when the car was searched; it’s been taken for further examination.
A police vehicle was damaged during the incident but no officers have been injured.
