The war on weeds in Hat Head continues with Hat Head Dune Care being awarded a Council Community Grant to tackle bitou bush.
Hat Head Dune Care has received a grant to aid with weed eradication and control in order to preserve the condition of native flora and the sand dunes.
The Community Grants Program allowed for Hat Head Dune to receive a grant of $5,000 which allowed them to engage professionals to help remove and control the presence of Bitou bush.
Bitou bush is a type of weed that spreads fast in forests and around sand dunes, and often competes with native flora. In many cases the Bitou bush has been known to take over areas and drastically change the environment for native wildlife.
