- 2026 WA Health Excellence Awards finalists have been announced
- Awards recognise outstanding work in the WA health public system
- Finalists selected from more than 300 nominations from right across the State
From a physiotherapist transforming children’s lives and mobility, to a proactive nursing team preventing acute flare-ups for patients with complex Crohn’s disease, the finalists of this year’s WA Health Excellence Awards have been announced.
The awards highlight innovation, leadership, and dedication across the public health system, with a focus on the delivery of safe, innovative, and high-quality care for Western Australians.
This year, finalists are competing for awards across an expanded number of categories including preventive health; mental health, alcohol and other drugs; person-centred care; safety and quality; workplace wellbeing and culture; research and innovation; sustainability; Aboriginal health; rural and remote health care; and caring for older people.
The new ‘Excellence in Caring for Older People’ award reflects the growing importance of aged care within the health system and recognises initiatives and teams delivering high-quality, compassionate care to older Western Australians.
This year also has the return of the ‘Health Heroes’ award, which recognises health workers who have been nominated by patients, carers, and supporters in the community. The four finalists for this prestigious award include a physiotherapist changing lives through early intervention, an immunology doctor guiding parents through paediatric emergencies, a peri-operative coordinator preparing teenagers for scoliosis surgery, and a clinical nurse managing palliative care.
The winners of the 2026 WA Health Excellence Awards will be announced in November.
