Healthcare worker returns positive COVID-19 test

A healthcare worker from Perth Children’s Hospital Emergency Department has tested positive for COVID-19.

The healthcare worker has not been at the hospital since their last shift ended on Monday morning, 23 March 2020. However they worked in the Emergency Department on the following dates:

  • Day shift (8am – 6pm), 7 – 8 March
  • Evening shift (2pm – 12am), 11 March
  • Late evening shift (4pm – 2am), 12 – 13 March
  • Early evening shift (12pm – 10pm) 19 March
  • Night shift (10pm – 8am), 20 – 22 March

The healthcare worker is in isolation at home.

Perth Children’s Hospital is working with WA Health to complete the necessary contact tracing.

All patients who have been identified as close contacts will be phoned and provided with advice along with any other members of the public who may have come into contact with the healthcare worker at Perth Children’s Hospital.

All impacted staff are being provided with the necessary support and information.

It is safe to take your child to Perth Children’s Hospital, Emergency Department.

Like all hospitals in WA, Perth Children’s Hospital has strict infection control measures in place and is working closely with the Department of Health and Infectious Diseases and Infection Prevention and Control experts.
