Hearing Dates Set

The Royal Commission into National Natural Disaster Arrangements will commence public hearings on Monday 25 May, 2020 from 10am.

To ensure the Commission complies with current COVID-19 health measures, hearings will be conducted as electronic hearings (e-hearings) with proceedings live streamed via the Commission’s website.

The hearings will be held over the course of two weeks*.

The first phase of hearings will set the scene for the Commission’s inquiry into natural disaster coordination and accountability arrangements.

There will be a focus on the 2019-20 bushfire season, and the Commonwealth’s responsibilities relating to natural disasters.

Daily themes and the list of proposed witnesses will be published on the Commission’s website in the week prior to the start hearings.

A practice guideline on the conduct of the electronic hearings will be published shortly.

*Excluding the ACT public holiday on Monday, 1 June 2020
