Help shape future of diverse and inclusive Ballarat

The City of Ballarat is undertaking a massive consultation campaign to ensure everyone in the city has the chance to help shape an inclusive future for Ballarat.

Throughout April, the City of Ballarat will be asking for community input into a range of strategic plans as part of the Inclusive Ballarat campaign.

During the Inclusive Ballarat campaign, residents will be able to have their say on

  • A new Inclusion Framework
  • A refreshed Reconciliation Action Plan,
  • A new Intercultural Plan,
  • An updated Disability Access and Inclusion Plan,
  • A brand new LGBTIQA+ Inclusion Plan, and
  • An updated Ageing Well Plan

The City of Ballarat is a provider of many services including community services, buildings, recreation facilities, open spaces, footpaths, roads, and a lot more. Ensuring these community services and infrastructure are inclusive and accessible is an especially important aspect of providing for the public.

City of Ballarat Mayor, Cr Daniel Moloney said the Inclusive Ballarat Campaign will give everyone a chance to ensure that Ballarat is an accessible, safe and welcoming city for all.

“Accessibility and inclusion are a big focus of everything we do at council,” he said.

“When we are planning for new services or programs or looking to update infrastructure or provide the facilities our community wants, we look to make sure they are appropriate for everyone in our community to access and get the most out of.

“As we update our plans and policies for a modern Ballarat, it is so important the people of Ballarat have their say in what accessibility and inclusion looks like for them.

“We want to hear from the community, so we know what actions we need to take to make sure Ballarat is inclusive for all specific user groups and for the wider community too.”

The Inclusive Ballarat Campaign kicks off on 11 April via the City of Ballarat’s MySay community consultation hub.
