Help shape future of events in region

Tamworth Regional Council is developing a Tamworth Regional Events Strategy 2023-2030 to grow event tourism with the aim of establishing Tamworth and the North West Region as the “Events Capital of Regional NSW”.

This ambition to grow Tamworth’s events market requires the retention of existing and attraction of new conferences, sporting events, agricultural, equine and livestock events, cultural events, concerts, festivals and field days.

The strategy will include three distinct but interrelated strategies: the Tamworth Country Music Festival Strategy, Tamworth Regional Events Strategy and Events Infrastructure Strategy.

Council’s Project Manager, Lisa McMahon, said she is excited to be providing more opportunities for people to attend or host events across the region.

“The scope of the strategy covers events created, staged or managed by Council plus potential new events run by other organisations. As the largest Council in the region, this strategy will help us deliver events to meet the needs of the local community and support our businesses and the regional economic development across the entire North West”.

Council is inviting community members to complete a short survey via Councils ‘Have your Say’ page before Tuesday 8 August and go into the draw to win one of 4 prizes.

The creation of this strategy has been funded by the NSW Government under the Regional NSW – Business Case and Strategy Development Fund. This find aims to support local Councils, joint organisations of Councils, not for profit, industry and Aboriginal Community groups develop business cases or strategies for projects delivering significant economic or social benefits to regional communities, with a focus on infrastructure.
