Helping hand supports Logan’s next tertiary students

Man signs certificates
Mayor Darren Power signs graduation certificates for the city’s Year 12s who are finishing school soon.

Year 12s embarking on university studies in 2024 are encouraged to apply for financial support from Logan City Council.

The City of Logan Tertiary Educational Bursaries provide $5000 over three years to offset the costs of attending university.

Mayor Darren Power said the bursaries, sponsored by Council and a number of South East Queensland businesses, had helped many City of Logan residents start their careers on the right note.

“The costs of attending university can be a burden for some people,” Councillor Power said.

“Our bursaries take the pressure off local families so our best and brightest can achieve their potential through further study and ultimately their vocation in the workforce.

“We don’t want anyone to be left behind here in the City of Logan, so I encourage all our Year 12 students to apply.”

The bursaries are open to City of Logan students completing Year 12 locally and intending to attend university in Queensland in 2024. Applications close on December 22.

The first Logan City Tertiary Educational Bursaries were established with solicitors Corrs Chambers Westgarth in 1996.

Since then, more than 100 students have been supported.
