Heroin, ice worth $45,000 seized at hotel; man charged in Sydney CBD

A man has been charged with multiple drug offences after heroin worth an estimated potential street value of more than $45,000 was seized when a hotel room was searched in Sydney’s CBD yesterday.

About 11am (Thursday 4 June 2020), officers from the Target Action Group, Police Transport Command (North/Central), observed a suspected drug transaction between two men on Randle Street, Surry Hills.

A 62-year-old man was arrested and searched, with police allegedly locating heroin and $2517 cash in his possession.

The second man, aged 57, was issued a Court Attendance Notice for possess prohibited drug after police also allegedly located heroin in his possession.

Just after 8pm last night, a search warrant was executed at a hotel on George Street, Haymarket, with police locating and seizing heroin, Ice and $8757 cash within a hotel room.

The drugs have an estimated potential street value of $45,075.

The 62-year-old man was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with deal with property proceeds of crime, supply prohibited drug and supply prohibited drug (indictable).

A revocation of parole warrant issued in February 2019 relating to drug supply offences was also executed.

He was also charged with a further 13 offences:

  • Supply prohibited drug (indictable)
  • Supply a prohibited drug (three counts)
  • Supply prohibited drugs on an ongoing basis
  • Supply prohibited drug – indictable quantity (five counts)
  • Supply prohibited drug (three counts)

The Waterloo man was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (Friday 5 June 2020).
