Officers from Toowoomba Highway Patrol have charged a 27-year-old man after he was allegedly detected speeding while over the legal alcohol limit in Toowoomba on 26 September.
Officers were conducting mobile patrols in Glenvale at around 3.55pm when they observed a Holden Calais travelling along Euston Road at 144km/h, 74km/h over the signed 70km/h speed limit.
The driver was issued a high-speed traffic infringement notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 40km/h, carrying a penalty of eight demerit points and a $1,986 fine.
In addition, the man was also subjected to a roadside breath test where he allegedly returned a positive result. He was detained for a secondary test where he allegedly returned a blood alcohol concentration of 0.138%.
A 27-year-old Drayton man was charged with one count of driving a vehicle under the influence and had his licence suspended.
He has been issued with a Notice to Appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on 27 October.
