Historical Sites Recognised: Bayside

Bayside Council has approved a program to recognise sites of cultural or historical significance across Bayside.

The Historical Marker program, which will launch in early 2024, will give residents the opportunity to nominate sites of cultural or historical significance to be recognised.

The nominations will be assessed by a panel with recommendations submitted to council for final approval.

“This program will help recognise and promote the many sites of natural, cultural and historical significance found in Bayside,” Mayor Bill Saravinovski said.It is proposed that up to five historical markers nominations may be selected and installed each year.

The winning sites will be announced to coincide with the Australian Heritage Festival in 2024.

The Historical Marker Program, as well as the minutes from the Council Meeting, can be viewed on Council’s website.
