Hoon Vehicle Impound – Dawesville

Traffic Enforcement Group officers impounded a vehicle on Friday night, 5 June 2020, in Dawesville after it was detected speeding at more than 80km/h above the speed limit.

About 10:00pm Traffic Enforcement Group officers were on patrol in Dawesville when it will be alleged they detected a white Toyota Camry sedan being driven south-bound at 183km/h in a 100km/h speed zone on the Dawesville Bypass.

The driver was observed to conduct a u-turn and drive at high speed in the opposite direction. The vehicle was stopped and it was established the Toyota Camry was being driven by a 17-year-old P-plate driver. At the time he had two 15-year-old passengers in the vehicle.

The driver and passengers were taken to Mandurah Police Station where the driver’s parents were called to attend the police station.

The vehicle was impounded for 28 days and the 17-year-old Golden Bay boy will appear in court at a later date in relation to a Reckless Driving charge.
