ICT, Science and Technology Minister has the opposite of the Midas touch

Tasmanian Labor

The recent cyber breach incident which the Government announced nearly a week after they became first aware is a serious incident.

Tasmanians are still in the dark as to whether or not their personal information has been compromised.

Madeleine Ogilvie is proving, once again, she is incapable of running her portfolios. First it was the Racing portfolio, now it is the Science and Technology portfolio.

Tas ICT has not even been briefed yet by the Government.

We have put in a request for an urgent briefing. We are yet to hear back from the Minister.

This is a breach of the State Government’s duty of care to Tasmanians, and it is not appropriate for this failing Minister to downplay the seriousness of the situation.

It is clear we have been targeted because we are years behind other jurisdictions when it comes to Cyber security.

In 2014 the Liberal Government cut future funding to cyber security by millions. It is no wonder we are behind all the other states and territories.

Every portfolio Madeleine Ogilvie handles is thrown into turmoil. She is ineffective, incompetent and Jeremy Rockliff needs to sack her, because Tasmanians deserve better.
