Impacts to some services

Council was recently notified by unions of the intention to take protected industrial action.

Many Council staff are union members, and we respect their right to take protected industrial action.

We highly value our wonderful staff and the important work they do for the Moreland community. This is being reflected in a fair and reasonable wage increase offer that compares favourably to 13 other metropolitan Melbourne councils.

Council has been meeting regularly with unions since August last year as part of the Enterprise Agreement negotiations, and many achievements have been made with significant benefits added and conditions improved.

We also have a duty to our residents to be financially responsible, working within our budget and the State Government rate cap, which limits our income.

Whilst we don’t expect the protected industrial action to have a significant impact on services, or jeopardise the health and safety of our community or staff, we will be making arrangements to ensure any impact is minimal.

We thank our community for their patience during this time.
