Improving mobile connectivity across northern Ballarat and Melbourne’s south-east

The Victorian Government has announced further locations to get better mobile connectivity through the Connecting Victoria program.

Through the Connecting Victoria program $300 million is being invested to deliver new mobile towers or upgrade infrastructure at about 1,000 sites across the state.

Residents and businesses in northern Ballarat will benefit from Victorian Government partnerships with Optus and TPG Telecom to build a new mobile tower and upgrade five existing towers in the area.

The upgrades will improve mobile services in Addington, Bakery Hill, Ballarat Central, Black Hill, Cardigan, Golden Point, Invermay, Invermay Park, Lake Gardens, Lake Wendouree, Learmonth, Miners Rest, Mount Bolton, Mitchell Park, Mount Pleasant, Mount Rowan, Newington, Redan, Wendouree and Weatherboard.

Suburbs in Melbourne’s outer south-east can also look forward to improved mobile services, as the Victorian Government is partnering with Optus and TPG Telecom to build four new towers and upgrade 11 existing towers there.

The works will benefit Beaconsfield, Berwick, Botanic Ridge, Cardinia, Clyde, Clyde North, Cranbourne, Cranbourne East, Cranbourne North, Cranbourne West, Dandenong South, Endeavour Hills, Eumemmerring, Hallam, Hampton Park, Mornington, Mount Martha, Officer, Officer South and Skye.

In total, this new and upgraded infrastructure will cover more than 521 square kilometres and benefit more than 153,000 premises.

Victorians living, working and holidaying in these areas will benefit from improved mobile connectivity as the upgrades are carried out between 2023 and 2024.

This investment in new and upgraded infrastructure will deliver better mobile services where they are needed most, helping to grow businesses, create jobs and connect more Victorians to loved ones.
