Incident in CBD, South Australia

About 11pm on Thursday 22 October, police were called to the King William Street convenience store after a man entered and claimed to have a firearm. The staff member immediately left the store leaving the man inside by himself.

There were no reported injuries.

A security alarm inside the store was allegedly damaged.

A 50-year-old man from NSW was detained under the Mental Health Act and taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

He is likely to be charged later today with aggravated assault and property damage at a bedside court hearing.
