Officers from the Cairns Child Investigation and Protection Unit (CPIU) have charged a 26-year-old woman following an incident in Edmonton on 20 June.
It will be alleged the woman was employed as a babysitter at an Edmonton home, when she assaulted two children.
An investigation was launched, and police executed a search warrant at a Manunda property on 24 June, where she was taken into custody.
She was charged with two counts of common assault, and one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and indecent treatment of children under 16 child under 12 years – carer.
She is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on 10 July.
Police are appealing for further possible victims, or parents who suspect their child may have come into contact with the woman in recent years.
Investigations are ongoing.
