NSW Gov

The NSW Government has instructed the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Office of Sport to conduct an independent, merit-based appointment process for the vacant role of Chairperson.

Multiple appointments, including a representative from the Hunter region, are also set to expire on 30 November 2023 which will also be advertised.

This EOI will be advertised on the Department of Premier and Cabinet Boards and Committees Register. In addition, potential candidates will also be identified through networks including existing board members and professional associations.

The approach to filling the vacancies by an EOI has been developed in accordance with the Board Appointment Standards and principles of merit, fairness, diversity and integrity.

The EOI assessment panel will:

  • assess submitted applications upon receipt;
  • assess each application against the skills, knowledge and experience required for the roles;
  • create a shortlist and conduct probity checks;
  • submit recommendations to the Minister; and
  • seek approval from the Minister

The Chairperson role has an annual remuneration of $70,000 per annum, Deputy Chairperson $46,000 and members $40,000.

The EOI process is expected to be completed by the end of July 2023.

NSW Minister for Sport Steve Kamper said:

“Venues NSW is responsible for major venues across the state including Accor Stadium, McDonald Jones Stadium and WIN Sports and Entertainment Centres.”

“We want to ensure we have the best people available leading the organisation and I encourage all people with the suitable qualifications to apply for the appointment.”
