Reconciliation Action Plan Endorsed: Casey

The City of Casey is proud to announce that its Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) 2024-26 has been officially endorsed by Reconciliation Australia.

The Innovate RAP outlines Council’s commitment to reconciliation and details a range of actions designed to build understanding, commitment, and respect for culture.

City of Casey Chair of Administrators Noelene Duff PSM said the endorsement of the RAP is a momentous occasion for the City of Casey and its Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.

“Through this plan, we aspire to deepen our engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, amplify their voices, and create opportunities for meaningful participation and empowerment,” she said.

“Together, let us embark on this journey of reconciliation with humility, empathy, and a shared commitment to building a more united and equitable future for all.”

City of Casey Chief Executive Officer Glenn Patterson said the Innovate RAP represents a significant step forward in Council’s reconciliation journey.

“I am proud of the collaborative efforts in developing this plan internally, with the community, and the positive collaboration with Reconciliation Australia. I am confident that it will guide us towards meaningful and impactful outcomes for the Casey community,” he said.

“I commend the dedicated efforts of our team in developing this plan, and I am eager to see the positive impact it will have on our organisation and the wider community.

“I would also like to acknowledge Adam Magennis, the visionary artist behind the captivating artwork featured in our RAP. The artwork, which uses colours and symbols inspired by Bunnorong land, stands as a testament to the rich cultural heritage and connection to the land within which the City of Casey resides.”
