India opens new opportunities for Victorian Edtech companies

India’s large young population, competition for education, rapid adoption of smartphones and growing tech ecosystem, together with Victoria’s reputation for quality education and training creates a significant opportunity for Victoria’s EdTech sector in India.

Global Victoria’s Edtech trade mission to India has facilitated a number of promising opportunities

To seize the moment, Global Victoria led 12 export-ready Victorian education technology (EdTech) companies and education providers on a successful EdTech trade mission to India at the end of September 2019.

The mission coincided with a visit by Minister Adem Somyurek to India. The delegation participated in the DIDAC Exhibition in Bengaluru – one of Asia’s largest EdTech exhibition and conference.

Minister Somyurek presented the keynote address at the Asian Summit for Education Services ( the conference track of DIDAC). The delegation also participated in a day long workshop in Delhi with Government bodies such as Educational Consultants India Limited EdCIL, which is a Public Sector Undertaking in India under Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and then with Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which is the largest board in India.

The day was concluded with a focus group discussion with the investor community. Feedback from the mission delegates has been overwhelmingly positive and the mission has facilitated a number of promising opportunities.
