Industry forums support jobs across Tasmania

Joan Rylah,Liberal Member for Braddon

The Hodgman Liberal Government is a proud supporter of Tasmania’s hospitality industry, recognising it is the backbone of our visitor economy.

I was thrilled to attend the Tasmanian Hospitality Association Development Forum in Strahan on behalf of the Premier.

The Government has provided $3 million over four years to implement the THA’s strategic plan and to support workforce development in the sector.

Today’s event is the first in a series of forums being held around the state that will bring hospitality businesses together to better understand the challenges and opportunities they face.

These facilitated forums will consider topics including regulation, business costs, workforce retention, awareness and education around safety for patrons and hospitality staff, marketing and specific regional issues.

The forums will inform five regional hospitality plans which will directly address the needs of individual regions, ensuring programs are targeted to deliver maximum benefits.

I commend all for taking part in this important industry event today and for the excellent work you do to provide exceptional experiences to locals and visitors from all over the world.
